A series of innovative, interactive orientation sessions hosted by experts and community representatives.

These sessions:
• Provide insight and advice on topics such as culture, housing, finances, family, education, civic participation, and job search skills.
• Introduce newcomer professionals to a holistic approach to resettlement, focusing on the necessary steps for integrating into the community and workplace.

NEWCOMERS BARRIERS TO WORKFORCE ENTRY

  • Lack of familiarity with international credentials and experience;
  • Preference or requirements regarding Canadian work experience;
  • Concerns about the lack of language proficiency and awareness of Canadian technical terminology and idioms; and
  • Concerns that cultural miscommunications might occur, or that newcomers may not adapt to Canadian business norms.
