Parent Link Family Resource Centre

We offer many activities for children, youth and parents that provide social educational and recreational opportunities. We are open to all families, although we specialize in services to newcomer families.

Our goal is to enhance positive family interaction, increase support to families when they need it, assist with referrals to community resources, assist with your child’s development and strengthen parenting skills.

PARENTING P

PARENTING

Triple P | This Positive Parenting Program helps families build confidence and problem-solve. Small changes can make a big difference. Triple P is based on a set of parenting skills which emphasize plenty of encouragement for positive behaviour.
Culturally Positive Parenting Program | This program has been developed by CCIS to support newcomer families through the resettlement process. Workshops are offered in a number of first languages, in a culturally appropriate way. We strive to produce an understanding of the norms and expectations within a Canadian context.
Developmental Screening 0-6 years | ASQ | ASQ:SE This is a series of tests done with your children to see how they are doing with their physical, social and emotional development.
A variety of developmental screenings are available and are designed to help monitor your child’s progress and give you ideas on how to be part of their learning at key stages in their growth.

LITTLE HANDS ARTS & CRAFTS

Art is an expression of creativity and explores our imagination. Arts and crafts is a perfect way to help your child develop many skills, all while having fun!  Join in these activities with other families and explore new ways to build friendships and increase communication skills.

Here are some of the things we do!

  • CLAY & PLAYDOUGH

    CLAY & PLAYDOUGH

Your child will work on their fine motor skills using the sense of touch as they work with the clay to mold it into shapes, the senses of sight for design, colour and creativity and the sense of smell when working with different types of clay.
  • OUTDOOR CRAFTS & GAMES

    OUTDOOR CRAFTS & GAMES

Exercise is a great activity your family can do together to stay active and healthy. Your child will improve balance, co-ordination and teamwork.
  • GARDENING

    GARDENING

What can be more exciting than watching something grow! Gardening is a terrific family activity that even young children can be part of. Planting the seeds, taking care of watering and seeing the end result of your efforts with vegetables or a flower, is a great way to understand and investigate science.
  • LEGO DIEGO

Playing with building blocks improves your child’s brain processes and is excellent for fine-motor skills, plus it’s a whole lot of fun! It’s creative, inventive and easy to do.
  • CULTURAL EVENTS & HOLIDAYS
