Often considered by newly arrived refugees as “my first home in Canada,” the Margaret Chisholm Resettlement Centre is temporary housing for Government Assisted Refugees (GARs).

For up to 14 days, after which suitable permanent accommodation is found, our newest neighbours are provided support and a home-like environment to help them feel settled.

During their stay we provide three (3) meals per day, individual apartment-like rooms for families, a TV and playroom for the children, an outdoor playground, and laundry facilities.

During their stay our refugees attend numerous training sessions to learn Canadian life management skills, and overcome the initial challenges of adjusting to a new country and culture.
