OVERVIEW
COVID -19 has created an emergency like none other and our governments, health authorities and municipalities are establishing plans and supports to address this situation. We believe there are vulnerable populations in every community - including Calgary and area. In order to support these individuals with a focused needs-analysis and strategic support, CCIS has created a Crisis Response Protocol for Immigrants and Refugees.
The Response Team has been designed in collaboration with our Community Partners to address the most complex cases of high need individuals and families.
Through a centralized intake, the response teams will conduct individual assessments and create coordinated service plans to address immediate needs through direct resources, community referrals, and logistical supports. Areas of focus include Resettlement, Family Violence, Mental Wellness, Health, Housing, Finances and Food Security.

Upon receiving a referral, the CCIS Response Teams will be activated in the following way:

MARCH 2018 - PRESENT
40,000 immigrants & refugees have settled in Calgary
4,000+ have multiple barriers
40%+ are considered highly vulnerable requiring additional support
We know there are currently 2,400 clients considered to be the most vulnerable. They are mostly refugees, single mothers, individuals with disabilities or complex health needs, those suffering from trauma, exposure to family violence, and barriers due to language, culture, finances, and food security.

100% of your donations go directly to vulnerable newcomers. CCIS takes no administration fee.
Your donations will be used to assist in the following ways:
- Emergency essentials packages (food and clothing)
- Emergency housing needs (due to self-isolation or new arrivals)
- Living expenses
- Emergency medical costs
- Digital resources for virtual learning & support
- Data and internet costs for digital learning & support
- Family violence support
- Access to interpretation and translation services
- Virtual therapy sessions
- Family counselling support
- Transportation expenses
