Services Provided
Workshops, information and orientation sessions, and direct client service in either individual or group settings, will provide you and your family with support and assistance in settling in your new community. A wide variety of topics are covered, including housing, employment, education, health care, English classes, and housing. We encourage active participation in the community and facilitate the settlement process by bridging local services. We also help with application forms and documentations, and interpretations and translations. |
SETTLEMENT WORKERS IN SCHOOLS This program aims to provide a smooth transition for students as they enter into the Canadian school system, while empowering immigrant and refugee families to actively contribute and integrate into their child’s school community. In-school workers provide orientation, information, cultural interpretation, support and referrals, while acting as the liaison between families and educators. |
CULTURAL DIVERSITY SERVICES This program promotes and enhances cross cultural competency through community education and awareness. We offer workshops, consultations and resources that focus on immigration, culture, diversity, and inclusive practices to workplaces, agencies, and community groups. |
VOLUNTEER SERVICES Providing interpretation / translation services, as well as event and office support, volunteers are an integral part of Southern Alberta Settlement Services. Volunteers are always welcomed and provided with full training and ongoing support to assist us in helping others. |
