Support for Arrivals from Ukraine

What We Do:

In Calgary and Area

  • Ukrainian pre-arrivals
    • Pre-registrations for Ukrainian arrivals (takes up to 5 business days)
    • Information for Ukrainians (ex. Services available, health care, etc)
  • Ukrainian airport services
    • Meeting Ukrainian arrivals at the Calgary airport (at door 17 from 9:00am - 1:00am; 7 days a week)
    • Registrations for free government-sponsored hotels if available
    • Connecting Ukrainians to community and settlement services
  • Housing
    • Finding temporary accommodation
    • Matching host families with Ukrainian evacuee families
    • Providing host family supports together with the Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies
  • Settlement, employment, and volunteer services
    • Government documents
    • Getting children registered in school
    • Making connections to community resources and support organizations
    • Job search, resume writing, and interview preparation
    • Mentorship and networking with employers
    • Trades training and employment preparation
    • Introduction to the Canadian workplace
    • Finding volunteers to welcome newcomers and introduce them to the city
    • English language classes
    • Online information sessions every Friday from 10:00-12:00 (in English and Ukrainian)

In Rural and Small Centres outside of the Calgary region:

  • Rural and Mid-Size Centre Relocation Program
    • Working together with non-profits and municipalities across the province to match and support Ukrainians in moving to rural to mid-size centres
    • Support in finding housing and some types of employment in partnering rural to mid-size centres
    • Connecting Ukrainians to community partners and supports in rural to mid-size centres
